To address the question In the mid 21st century, what should a world-class transport system look like for the Lake District? TfLD will
Propose – and engage on – a set of principles to frame desirable access and transport
Use the principles to bring together and further develop ideas for what world-class access & transport could be like. These will be clearly articulated and further developed through broad engagement
We will deliberated seek out a wide range of voices to be involved in these idea developments. This will also build awareness of what could be possible and a groundswell of demand for meaningful change.
We will make sure that what we are proposing is deliverable under current legislation, and that the economic models are realistic. We will do this by engaging with those who have responsibility for delivery – the existing Transport Authorities and the emerging Combined Authority.
TfLD is steered by a small group of people already working in this area (Low Carbon Destinations, ACT, SITU).
It is initially funded with a grant from the Foundation for Integrated Transport.
